These examinations will consist of multiple-choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Ability with emphasis on Speed and Accuracy and a few questions on issues of current topical interest. The examination will be conducted in ENGLISH. Sample questions are given in Annexure III (“Information on Written Tests”). Performance in this examination will be the basis for being called for the interviews, practical tests and final selections. At the time of the interviews, Christian students who have applied under the sponsored category will be given a test of Bible Knowledge.

GROUP B
Special Paper(s) and the General Paper NS (Courses 91, 141 to 404):

The entrance examination will be held ONLY in Vellore on the dates stipulated. The details about the special paper are mentioned in Annexure III and the Prospectus / website. The General Paper (NS) will consist of questions of a general nature, including very basic science, general knowledge, current awareness and general ability.

INTERVIEWS & PRACTICAL TESTS
Interviews and Practical tests for selection to the various courses will be held at Vellore according to the schedule on page 3. Candidates who write the All India Entrance in May and are shortlisted for interview & practical tests for the Group A degree and B diploma courses will be intimated by letter sent by Speed Post around the second week of June. Hall ticket numbers of these candidates (invited for interviews) will also be posted on the website around 10th June. The list of candidates selected for interviews and Practical test after entrance examinations in Vellore (special paper(s) and General Paper (NS) for the Group B courses will usually be put up on the evening of the day of the entrance examination. Interviews and practical test for those who are called will be held on the date announced. Being called for interview does not necessarily mean selection or acceptance of eligibility.

FOREIGN NATIONALS & RESIDENTS
All candidates go through the same admission procedure. There is no NRI or Foreign quota. Those resident abroad, including SAARC countries will have to pay a different fee for obtaining the Prospectus and also for Registration. Common Entrance Test (Asso CET 2008) will be held on Sunday 4th May 2008 for the academic year 2008-2009 for admission to MBBS, BAMS, BPTh, BOTh & BSC-Nursing courses in the State of Maharashtra.

Application forms and information brochure for Asso-CET 2008 for admission to 1st year MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BPTh, BOTH and BSc-Nursing courses will be available at private Medical and Dental Colleges and other notified centers given on Website of amupmdc from 1st March 2008 to 31st March 2008 on payment of Rs. 500/- by DD. Application forms will also be available from AMUPMDC office by post with an additional DD of Rs. 100/- for postal charges. Applications Forms will also be available from selected Branches of Punjab National Bank on Payment of Rs 500/- in Cash. The Fee for Examination is Rs. 1,500/- payable by DD. All DD’s are to be drawn in favour of “AMUPMDC” and payable at Mumbai.

CONDUCT OF NATA FOR ADMISSION TO B.ARCH. COURSE
FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2008-09

The Council of architecture (COA), through its academic unit- National Institute of Advanced Studies in architecture (NIASA) at Pune, has been conducting National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). An online examination, for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree Course at all COA approved architectural institutions in the country (including NITs, IITs, Government institutions, government aided Institutions, Universalities, Deemed universities and Private Universities established by a Central or State legislature and other private institutions) since academic session 2006-2007. for the current academic session i.e. 2008-09 also, nata is being conducted by COA. It shall be mandatory for every candidate seeking admission to 5-year B.Arch. Degree Course in any COA approved architectural institution in the country to obtain valid NATA score in addition to any other selection procedure whether based on common entrance examination or marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Such scores shall be valid for a period of two years throughout the Country for the purpose of admission to any architectural institution.

The evaluation through NATA is a mandatory requirement for candidates for eventual registration as an architect on successful completion of 5-year B.Arch. Degree course. It is hereby clarified that any aptitude test conducted by individual institution or by any agency or authority holding a common entrance examination where such common entrance examination is mandated shall no longer be valid for the purposes of admission to COA approved architectural institutions in such states. The eligibility criteria for admission to 5-year B.Arch. Course and for appearing in the NATA shall be as follows:

10+2 or equivalent form a recognized Board/university with Mathematics as a subject of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks. OR

10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks. OR
International baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

The admissions shall be carried out by respective State Government/Competent Authority/Association of Architectural Institutions in the State, based on the valid NATA score and marks secured in the qualifying examination in the ratio of 50:50. The prospective students are strongly advised t o confirm the approval status of institutions form COA website before taking admission.

After admissions, all institutions shall be required to submit a list of students admitted in the B.Arch. course along with their NATA score as well as marks in qualifying examination, to COA.

What is NATA ?

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA Test) measures aptitude of appilcant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures aesthetic sensitivity, critical thinking, that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

Who Can take the NATA Test ?

Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India take the NATA Test. NATA test scores are used by admissions authorities of different unaided schools/ colleges of Architecture to provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants.

TANCET 2008 EXAM DATE AND DETAILS

Applications are invited for the TANCET 2008 to be conducted by Anna University Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 17th th and 18th May 2008 from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. A and 3. M.E. / M.Tech., / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2008 – 2009 offered at University Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University, Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions. Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance tests but, admission is subject to the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority / University.

TANCET 2008 ELIGIBILITY:

1. MBA: A pass in any Degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern or a pass in any Degree with 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.
